Overview

My 3rd year dissertation project aims to be a C++ library that generates 3D meshes of real road routes that users can map out themselves. To achieve a deemonstration I am aiming for it to link with Unreal Engine to alow users to rally down the roads they create. However the main focus of the project is to create a library that can generate meshes of roads and their surrounding environment. If there is time am keen to build up the Unreal side, with VR support and potential for racing sim support too.

Initial Research

From initial research I have found I can get topology data from Open Street maps, in which there are already many APIs to gather the data within code aswell as others that already link to graphic libraries such as OpenGL(GLMap) which I plan to reasearch further to help me develop my own library.
